We are currently seeking a passionate and creative Activities Director to join our team and lead our residents in meaningful and enriching activities.
**Job Summary:**
The Activities Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of our residents. This role requires a compassionate and enthusiastic individual who can create a warm, welcoming atmosphere and foster community involvement among residents, families, and staff.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Plan, organize, and execute a diverse range of recreational, educational, and social activities tailored to the interests and capabilities of residents.
- Assess the individual needs and preferences of residents through observations and regular interactions.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and family members to enhance programming and engage residents effectively.
- Schedule regular activities, ensuring a balanced mix of physical, cognitive, and creative opportunities that promote overall well-being.
- Maintain records of activities, attendance, and residents’ feedback to evaluate and improve programming continuously.
- Manage the budget for the activities department, ensuring that resources are used effectively and expenditures remain within budgetary constraints.
- Facilitate outings and community engagement opportunities, coordinating transportation and logistics as needed.
- Promote an inclusive environment, encouraging residents to participate actively in planning and decision-making regarding activities.
- Train and supervise activity assistants and volunteers, fostering a supportive and collaborative team atmosphere.
- Ensure all activities meet safety guidelines and standards, maintaining a safe environment for all participants.
**Qualifications:**
- Previous experience in an activities/program director role, ideally within an assisted living or senior care environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine passion for working with seniors.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop engaging and meaningful programs.
- Knowledge of the needs and challenges facing seniors, including physical and cognitive limitations.
- Ability to foster a team-oriented environment, collaborating effectively with staff and families.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using technology for scheduling and communication needs.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hiring.
